We spent the weekend in Seville ... I've had a plan to sew a union jack (British flag) cushion for ages. It's not an original idea (union jack's are on just about everything these days), but I really just wanted to try out this lovely, iconic design in my own way. Using my own fabrics. As you do! I found this beautiful silver, delicate, flower dish at the Bermondsey Antique Market a few weeks ago in London. It's a great little market ~ antiques, vintage stuff, and lots of silver. I'm teaching myself how to embroider. Nothing fancy, just some stitches around one of my petals motifs for a little project I'm hatching. I'm using this book to give me ideas and show me how to do some of the stitches, but mostly I'm just winging it. Today I found a patchwork shop. Sounds simple enough ~ they are pretty abundant at home, but here not so much. For a country that doesn't sew much, I've been astounded to find two of the cutest little sewing boxes. The latest was found today ... It's made from bamboo with little compartments inside for all your bits and bobs, and the lid is engraved with buttons, scissors and needles. When I was home in Australia in August, I picked up a small screen and squeegee to take back with me so I could print. I've just made this delicious cake (recipe via retromummy) because sometimes you just need to bake! This cake is really moist (thanks to all the cream cheese). It's our last night in Spain, and we've just arrived home from a lovely dinner out in town, followed by a walk around the beautiful ancient streets. We dined at Zazu (pronounced Thathu in Spanish because z's are pronounced with a lisp). I have created a temporary creative space for myself in the attic of the house we are staying in while we are in Spain. I salvaged and old table from the laundry, bought an antique chair at a market for next to nothing (which I love - but how to get it home to Australia!!), and decorated with some of my own bunting and Crayon Chicks crocheted circles ... if only the walls were not sickly yellow!

Mr Yardage is celebrating a birthday, so yesterday, Little Mister and I got busy with some paint ... ... he made an original work of art gift, and I abstract painted on a couple of sheets of cardboard so that I could later chop them up and make some festive bunting ...
